Pinot Gris (Malvoisie)
The grape variety that is synonymous with sweet wine.
An international variety, Pinot Gris (known as Malvoisie in Valais, and more commonly known as Pinot Grigio elsewhere) needs a lot of sun, heat and wind. Valais is therefore the perfect place for it.
Pinot Gris is often harvested late in the season, and is ideal for producing sweet wines with a high sugar concentration.
A wine with aromas of quince and honey, Pinot Gris sometimes even evokes more distant spices.
